Brenda Armstrong

Brenda ArmstrongWith several years of corporate and government administration under her hat, Brenda attended the Canadian College of Massage & Hydrotherapy in Toronto in 1978 and went on to be certified as a Massage Therapist under the Drugless Practitioners Act of Ontario plus the Association of Physiotherapists and Massage Practitioners of British Columbia.

She opened a private practice, worked in a physiotherapy clinic and taught theory, technique and clinical courses at the Sutherland-Chan School of Massage in Toronto, ultimately advancing to the position of Principal of the school. She also worked with the budding Ontario Massage Therapists Association.

Throughout her career, Brenda has studied many forms of therapeutic touch, movement and exercise, integrating and developing her own unique style of careful bodywork.

Her move to the Virgin Islands in 1987 brought additional learning opportunities: in sailing, managing high-end residential property and adapting to island life.

Brenda re-established a full-time massage therapy practice in 1994 and opened A Touch of Wellness on the east end of St Thomas in May of 1995.  She holds the American National Certification in Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork, is a member of Associated Bodywork & Massage Professionals, continues to study and has added aromatherapy and healing stone massage to her bodywork repertoire.

Her focus on providing enriching, healthful massage and bodywork reflects a blending of her studies and experience of the traditional medical model, various forms of bodywork, psychology, philosophy and energy balancing. Her style is a unique composition of techniques and approaches customized to the needs of each client.  Read what some clients have said.

As well as training massage therapists for certification, Brenda has delivered workshops and speeches to a variety of audiences - including teaching a 40-hour program at the University of the Virgin Islands center for Community Enhancement and Lifelong Learning. She is available as a speaker.   Read feedback about some of her presentations and workshops.

Outside her practice, Brenda's volunteerism has found her in leadership roles on the Boards of Directors of several organizations over the years, a few of which are:

  • Ontario Massage Therapists Association
  • Sterling Institute of Relationship
  • Victim Advocate Program in St Thomas
  • Humane Society of St Thomas
  • Rotary Club of St Thomas - East
  • US Navy League - Virgin Islands Chapter

Aside from assuming these leading roles, you'll often find her involved in some sort of community service project.
